Vesselina’s Johannesburg Design Studio

Since setting up her own Design Studio in 2000, Vesselina has made her mark as an influential designer

of luxurious wedding dresses, but is equally well-known for her modern,

elegant and sophisticated evening wear and couture-like quality ready to wear collections.

Vesselina Pentcheva understands what women crave and with her intuitive flair she combines the skill and artistry of traditional craftsmanship with up to the minute design, creating clothes for women who want to look sexy and of the moment.

Her fans have an international attitude to dressing, are fashion conscious but dance to their own tune. They rebel against mass production and have seen through the "expensive but everywhere" global brands. Born in Bulgaria she presented her first fashion show in her hometown of Russe at the tender age of sixteen.

In 1993 Vesselina moved to South Africa to study at the Gordon Flack Davidson Academy of Design, where she gained a mastery of the classical techniques of couture and graduated as top student in 1996. Marianne Fassler who inspired her sense of freedom and creativity then hired her as assistant designer.

Over the past ten years Vesselina Pentcheva has developed a base of loyal clients who shop and consult in person at her atelier and salon. Vesselina enjoys meeting with clients and along with her team is passionate about delivering only the best quality of work, combining the skill and artistry of tradition with up to the minute design.

She has an extraordinary talent for detail and enjoys using colour, texture and unexpected combinations of sumptuous fabrics to create unique garments featuring hand made embroidery, skillfull corsetry, beading and exquisite detailing.

"As a woman I am motivated to nurture other woman to grow, develop, thrive and be successful. This has become the foundation for what I do and my work allows me to express all the complexity of being a woman with all its emotions and power," says Vesselina.

When she is not busy at work in her studio in Parktown North, you will find her making pancakes for her family and friends on her family farm in the Eastern Cape.
